My thesis, entitled “Why Do Young Men Love Hurting Themselves? An Exploration of Masculinity, Pain, Humor, Privilege, and Jackass” investigates the intersections of self-induced pain, homosocial bonding, white privilege, and the ways in which the Jackass franchise cultivated alternative modes of masculinity for the 21st Century.
